KLOVE

It's Monday morning and I'm sitting at my fortunate desk. The sky is blue with only a few clouds blowing in with an approaching storm. K-Love is playing on iTunes and I am trying to remain positive as news of the still-sinking economy continues to flood the news channels. What is the right thing to do? President Obama can't save any of us, nor can any politician. I wonder if we all awoke to the truth of Christ and finally did His will instead of our own if the fortunes here on earth would change.

God's time is not our time, in fact, He stands outside of time, so we really can't know when His return will occur. I'm ready, for sure, to shed this sinful body and be in the place of no pain, no tears, and eternal life.

Day 1

Financial Freedom - Physical Fitness

These are two of my passions in life. Certainly there are others, but the concepts of financial and physical fitness working in conjunction with each other drive most of these and make larger goals possible. I will note here that I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I have endeavored to put the teachings of the Bible into action in my life in every aspect, which is a constant work in progress. Wherever relevant, I will include Scripture verses that have guided me through the narrow gates of life (Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it - Matthew 7:13-14) If that instantly turns you off from reading further, I wish you peace on your journey.

On the financial side, I finished reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki on March 10, 2004, which has proven to be a personal Rubicon and very first step toward true freedom in this life. The plan developed on this day was cryptically entitled 31004, with the thought being simplicity trumps grandiosity. On that day, I was deeply in debt, recently divorced after 8 years of marriage, father to a wonderful 4-year-old son who remains with me today, and mired in a job that brought new levels of despair with each passing day.

Fitness-wise, my membership at 24-Hour Fitness started in December, 2001 and I began working out regularly in early 2002. My routine today includes five to six days a week in the gym for about an hour per workout. I've had several training sessions over the years with four different trainers at the 24-Hour Fitness club on Neil Road in Reno. I also include at least one cardio session per week, which can be the Turbo Kick Boxing class at the gym or a one-hour mountain bike ride on steep terrain at Bartley Ranch Park. I am convinced that this regimen has literally saved my life. Many of my relatives are sedentary, overweight and suffer from high blood pressure or other controllable/preventable maladies. Further, both my parents have passed away, my father from his fourth heart attack at age 54 in 1975, and my mother from congestive heart failure at age 79 in 2004.

These were the circumstances that brought about revelation and started a revolution within my entire life. This blog will be a circuitous, rambling, non-sequitur jabberfest at times, but will also hopefully include moments of clarity and inspiration. Blessings.
